Twenties & Turmoil

Hi.

Don’t go through turmoil alone. Click, explore, stay a while. I'll cook with you, read with you, vent with you and laugh with you. Hello, new friend.

Welcome Turmoiling Twenty-Somethings!

Welcome Turmoiling Twenty-Somethings!

We’re twenty-somethings.

Sometimes we feel lost. Sometimes we figure it out. Sometimes we thrive. Sometimes we’re just trying to survive. But always, we are in turmoil.

Think we’re dramatic? You’re probably right. By definition, being in a state of turmoil means we are feeling disturbed, confused or uncertain. Sound like your twenties? Absolutely.

It starts in college, when we have to choose a major that will decide the fate of our career path. Or when we embark on our first real interviews for internships that will set the tone of our professional lives. Then, there are the challenges of balancing a social life with maintaining good grades. Or learning to live with roommates who leave their dirty plates in the sink. And of course, there are hook-ups and break-ups, broken friendships and balancing new ones. College is like the limbo between childhood and adulthood. I mean, it’s not like we’re running around campus with torches and ripped clothing, screaming for dear life—but like, we are definitely fucking shit up and figuring shit out.

It continues post-grad, when we are left to navigate the stormy seas of adult life for the first time, literally ever. We graduate and suddenly, we’re expected to be functioning humans in society while deciding upon a career path—which sounds so permanent and unforgiving—learning the nuances of our first real jobs, and making sure we’re not totally blowing through our paycheck every two weeks, because brunch. Gone are the days of swiping right for a Netflix & chill night. Now, we must throw ourselves into the trenches of dinner dates and awkward goodnight kisses. Don’t even get me started on mastering the art of the work-life balance. What fucking scale is that measured on and how can I even that shit out? Friendships can sometimes feel like a second full-time job that doesn’t pay your bills.

I’m sorry for the pit I probably induced within your gut after reading all of that, but think about it this way: you are not alone. We may not talk about it on our perfectly curated instagram feeds, but everyone feels a little loss in one way or another. After all, we’re all just in our TWENTIES & in TURMOIL.
