Twenties & Turmoil

Hi.

Don’t go through turmoil alone. Click, explore, stay a while. I'll cook with you, read with you, vent with you and laugh with you. Hello, new friend.

TRIX Are For Adults Too

TRIX Are For Adults Too

So a dragon and a rabbit walk into a kitchen…

I’m guessing you’re incredibly confused by the beginning of that joke and let me tell you…it’s anticlimactic. I don’t know how it ends. But what I do know is that these two animals are, in fact, related. For the purposes of this smoothie bowl, obviously. Science.

This bowl is a replica of the Mixed Berry TRIX Yogurt that you reveled in as a wee-little one.

While that childhood delicacy was not my inspiration for the flavor, it was certainly a nostalgic and reminiscent moment when I realized I had just created the most bomb snack of 2000. I’ve been to the year 2000 and not much has changed since then, but we fed sugar-laden, artificially flavored, questionably-dyed yogurt to our children. Now, we’re a little more concerned about the contents that we feed ourselves and the youth. What message are we sending the little ones if we tell them to take care of their bodies, but also allow them to shovel down a science experiment labeled as “yogurt?”

Now, your TRIX is not only worshipped by the Silly Rabbit, but also by the Pink Dragon.

Dragon fruit, to be exact. The color, the flavor, the texture…it’s all in tune with what your inner child is just begging to be fed.

Silly, Rabbit! TRIX are for adults too!

TRIX Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl

Use This:

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1/2 cup frozen strawbs

  • 1/2 cup frozen bluebs

  • 1/2 cup frozen pink dragon fruit cubes (OR half of a frozen pitaya slab - I used Pitaya Plus)

  • 2 frozen jackfruit pieces

  • 1/2 scoop vanilla protein (I used PEScience)

  • 2/3 cup vanilla nut milk (I used Elmhurst cashew milk)

  • Optional Toppings: Unsweetened coconut shreds + Early Bird granola + creamy almond butter

Do This:

  1. Put all ingredients in a blender and…B L E N D. Duh.

  2. Stop and scrape down the sides to ensure smooth texture. Only add more liquid if you feel your blender really needs it. The more liquid, the less thicccc it’ll be.

  3. Pour into a bowl and top with some crunchy granola and creamy nut butter. Toppings are a very important part of my life.
