Cinnamon Spice & Everything Nice(cream)
If I were a Spice Girl I’d be Cinnamon Spice.
I’m not entirely keen on spicy food—except for Indian and Thai curries because I think they put crack in it—so when I do use spices, it’s to sweeten things up. AKA I go through bottles of cinnamon like it’s water. I used to wonder how spice companies stayed in business. Like, does anyone actually get to the bottom of a container of paprika? The contents in there are legit eternal and ever-multiplying. They quite literally never fucking deplete. And then I discovered my cinnamon infatuation and I realized I single-handedly keep the McCormick Spice company afloat.
It all stems back to my middle school home economics class—as everything in life does.
We were testing out different variations of hot chocolate and I discovered that Mexico puts cinnamon in their liquid cocoa delicacy. That’s when it hit me: cinnamon is truly the most versatile sweet and spicy dust that this earth has blessed us with. We don’t deserve it, but since we’ve got it, let’s not put it to waste. Knowing my completely predictable and not-at-all adventurous palette, I decided that I would be remiss not to mix my three favorite food groups together. Yes, you guessed it: bananas, chocolate, and cinnamon. * Gasps heard around the world *
Oh, and P.S. dessert can be enjoyed every damn day.
Cinnamon Chocolate Nicecream
Use This:
2 frozen bananas
1 scoop chocolate protein (I used Vegan PEScience)
2 tsp raw cacao powder (I used Navitas Organics)
Copious amounts of cinnamon ;)
2/3 cup vanilla nut milk (I used Elmhurst Cashew Milk)
Optional Toppings: granola (Early Bird Foods), nut butter (Bon Butters Chocolate Pecan Butter) & coconut shreds
Do This:
Throw it all in a blender.
Blend. Duh.
Stop and scrape down the sides. Only add more liquid if your blender sounds like it’s about to explode. The more liquid, the less thick and ice cream-like it’ll be.
Top with your fav toppings. I chose nut butter, granola, and coconut shreds!
