Smooth Move Smoothie (Let's Talk About Poop)
Every five seconds, 17 girls across America utter, “I’m like, so bloated.” Like, literally.
There isn’t a doubt in my mind about that fact. Picture this: it’s Friday night and you’re getting ready to go out. Hair’s did. Makeup’s did. Everything’s did. Except your outfit because you’re too god damn bloated to wear the shirt you had envisioned yourself in. Why does the bloat hit at all the worst times? Like right before your first date. Or on the first day of vacation in your new bikini. Or right now, as you’re getting ready to go hit the bars in that skin-tight top.
I don’t know about you, but I tend to try to avoid people asking me “how far along” I am when I go out. Sound dramatic? Well, shut up. You don’t know bloat until you’ve seen my stomach distend far beyond my skin intended it to. And it always seems to strike at the most inconvenient of times. If you’re nodding your head thinking, “Omg this is me,” keep reading, my friend.
Can we talk about poop for a sec?
A huge contributor to your bloat baby is your poop schedule. How often are you pooping? And when you go, are you feeling cleared out? I know we only just met, and you probably don’t want to confide in a stranger about your Number 2, but I promise I won’t judge.
The average American consumes around 15 grams of fiber a day. Women need around 25 grams and men around 38 grams. I’m no math whiz, but those numbers definitely aren’t adding up. You’re simply not getting enough fiber. Sometimes, getting in the suggested amount can be hard. Especially, when fibrous foods like broccoli and spinach can also be a bit rough on the digestive system.
I’ve found the solution to your poop problems and I’m putting it in your smoothie.
It’s called Psyllium Husk Powder. Just 1 tsp contains 5 grams of fiber. It’s such a quick, easy and flavorless fiber boost and you don’t even have to eat more broccoli, kids. The best part—aside from the fact that your colon will be clearing—is it makes smoothies incredibly thick and creamy,
You can purchase Psyllium Husk Powder at your local health food store or online. Just be sure to drink lots of water throughout the day. The more fiber you eat, the more water you will need in order to digest it. Otherwise, it’ll constipate you. And that definitely won’t get you into that skin-tight top for the bars tonight.
Use This:
2 frozen bananas
1/2 cup frozen mango
1/4 cup frozen pink pitaya (I used Pitaya Plus cubes)
1/2 scoop vegan protein powder (I used PEScience Cinnamon Delight)
1 tsp Psyllium Husk Powder
2/3 cup vanilla nut milk (I used Elmhurst Almond Milk)
Toppings: Early Bird Food Granola + Wild Friend Cinnamon Raisin PB
Do This:
Put all ingredients into a blender. B L E N D.
Stop & scrape. You know the drill. Only add more liquid if you absolutely have to, or if you want a more drinkable smoothie rather than a bowl.
Pour it. Top it. Spoon it. Poop it.
