Blueberry Crumble Smoothie
Crumble should only be for pie. When your life feels like it’s crumbling, it’s time to chew that shit up and swallow it down (in the form of a blueberry crumble pie smoothie).
Everybody loves a good slice of pie. It’s sweet, comforting and always hits the spot. Unfortunately, it’s also incredibly sugar and fat laden—which is totally OK every once in a while, but for people like me who want it EVERYDAY (lol, no? only me?), it’s not ideal.
So, there I was, dreaming of blueberry pie after a workout (mind you, it was 9 a.m.—ain’t nobody can justify pie that early in the mornin’) and my hands seemed to throw a few ingredients into the blender mindlessly. Luckily, my hands are genius. They created the most delicious, healthy form of liquid pie and my odd craving was demolished.
This smoothie is packed with sweet + fruity flavors, a boost of protein perfect for pre or post-workout, and some sneaky added fiber if you’re into that crap (LOL, get it?).
What’s In My Liquid Pie?
1-2 Frozen Bananas
1/2 cup Frozen Blueberries
1 scoop Salted Caramel Protein Powder (I used Blessed, but you can sub with any brand—I recommend using vanilla if you do not have caramel)
3/4 cup Almond Milk (I used Elmhurst)
Optional: 1 tsp Psyllium Husk Powder (for extra fiber + makes your smoothie thicker!)
Crust: Oatmeal Raisin NuGo Protein Cookie + Early Bird Food Granola
How Did I Make It?
Throw all smoothie ingredients in the blender + B L E N D —> you may need to stop and scrape down the sides a few times + add more liquid depending upon the strength of your blender
Crumble up some NuGo cookie and place at the bottom of your jar
Pour in your smoothie + top with granola
