Twenties & Turmoil

Hi.

Don’t go through turmoil alone. Click, explore, stay a while. I'll cook with you, read with you, vent with you and laugh with you. Hello, new friend.

Fill Me Up, Dixie Cup

Fill Me Up, Dixie Cup

Whenever that turmoil hits, I always find my mind wandering back to the good old days, when life was all about following your parents’ rules so you don’t get dessert taken away from you.

Admittedly, those seemingly inconsequential childhood turmoils were probably just as pit inducing as the ones we experience in our twenties. I mean treats were my world back then. What kind of a monster would threaten to take that away from me for not cleaning my toys when asked several times and given several warnings????? Mmm, well…they still are. I live for dessert. But now I got bills to pay too, you feel me?

Now that I’m an adult (legally, not mentally), I can have dessert for breakfast whenever I want because I don’t answer to anybody.

However, I pride myself on my ability to convert all my favorite desserts into healthy meals without compromising on taste. I was talking about Dixie Cups the other day with a friend, and realized that those little cups of vanilla and chocolate ice cream were my absolute JAM back in the day. And then a lightbulb went off in my head and I knew exactly what to do. Let me just say, that what I lack in important life decision-making skills, I make up for in deciding what to throw in a blender to make it taste as decadent as possible without spiking my sugar and clogging my arteries. It’s an art.

Adult Dixie Cup

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 2 frozen bananas

  • 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower (optional)

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I used Vega Clean Protein)

  • 1 Tbs raw cacao powder (I used Navitas Organics)

  • 2/3 cup vanilla nut milk (I used homemade with my Ellie’s Best bag—10% off using code SAMMIBROOKE) (may need more depending upon speed and strength of your blender)

Now Go Make It:

  1. Place all ingredients EXCEPT the cacao powder in the blender and ~ B L E N D ~

  2. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides. Add more liquid if your blender is having trouble blending it, but the less liquid you add, the more #thiccccc it will be.

  3. Once fully blended, scoop out half into a bowl and place it in the freezer. Add the cacao and blend again.

  4. Pour the chocolate into the bowl on one side and keep the vanilla on the other. TA-DAAA! Adult Dixie Cup at your service.
